Reading the output
Every number in the viewer describes the acting player at the current node of the tree. Change the node and the numbers change.
Strategy
Section titled “Strategy”A GTO strategy is a set of frequencies, not a single action. In the Strategy tab each cell is split into the actions the hand class takes, in proportion to how often it takes them. A cell that is 70% bet and 30% check means: bet this hand 70% of the time.
Two things are normal and not a bug:
- Mixing. Most hands mix at some node. A pure strategy would be exploitable.
- Suit differences. A hand class such as A5s contains four combos, and the solver may treat them differently (a backdoor flush draw matters). Per-combo strategy in the Inspector shows each combo.
Reach is how much of a hand class arrives at this node, given every earlier action. At the root it is the weight you gave the hand in the range. Deeper in the tree it shrinks as the hand takes other branches. A hand with low reach has little effect on the range-level numbers.
EV is the expected value of a hand from this node forward, in chips, assuming both players keep playing the solved strategy. It is not the value from the start of the hand; chips already in the pot are not subtracted. Compare EVs within one node, or across the actions in EV by action, to see what a hand prefers.
EQ (equity) is the chance the hand wins if all remaining cards are dealt with no more betting, against the villain’s range as it is at this node. Equity ignores position, stack depth, and the betting that follows. That is exactly why EQR exists.
EQR (equity realization) compares what a hand actually earns with what its equity alone would earn:
EQR = EV / (EQ × pot)- 1.0 means the hand realizes its raw equity.
- Above 1 means it earns more than its equity, typically strong hands and hands in position.
- Below 1 means it earns less, typically weak hands out of position that have to fold to bets.
At range level the viewer uses the ratio of the sums (total realized EV over total equity-value), so a few hands with tiny equity cannot distort it.
Exploitability
Section titled “Exploitability”Exploitability is how much a perfect opponent could gain per hand against the strategy, expressed as a percentage of the pot. The solver reports it while solving and stops once it reaches your Target exploitability. A target of 0.5% of the pot leaves frequencies stable enough to read; the remaining difference is noise, not strategy.
Using them together
Section titled “Using them together”- Start with Strategy to see the shape of the play.
- Switch to EV to see which hands are actually happy and which are indifferent.
- Use EQ graph to compare the two ranges’ strength at a glance.
- Read the Inspector for one hand: high EQ with low EQR is a hand that cannot use its equity (usually out of position); low EQ with high EQR is a hand that wins pots without the best hand.
