Desktop app
Supported systems
Section titled “Supported systems”The app is built for macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later (Apple silicon and Intel), 64-bit Windows, and 64-bit Linux.
Solves run on your own CPU and memory: larger trees need more RAM and take longer on fewer cores.
Installing
Section titled “Installing”RangeFlux is not code-signed yet, so macOS and Windows warn the first time you open it. Only install it from the download page.
- macOS 15 or later: open the app once and dismiss the warning. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway next to RangeFlux, and confirm with your password.
- macOS 11–14: in Applications, right-click RangeFlux, choose Open, then Open again.
- Windows: on the SmartScreen prompt, click More info, then Run anyway.
If macOS says the app “is damaged and can’t be opened”, move it to Applications and run this in Terminal, then open it again:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/RangeFlux.appSigning in and license checks
Section titled “Signing in and license checks”The app requires an account sign-in and an online activation of your license. If the app later cannot reach the license server, the local engine keeps working for 24 hours after the last successful check, then asks you to go online again.
Where your data is stored
Section titled “Where your data is stored”Job history lives in jobs.sqlite3 inside the app data folder:
| OS | Folder |
|---|---|
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/dev.rangeflux.desktop/ |
| Windows | %APPDATA%\dev.rangeflux.desktop\ |
| Linux | ~/.local/share/dev.rangeflux.desktop/ |
Completed solutions are saved separately in RangeFlux/Solutions inside your Documents folder.
Back up by quitting the app and copying both folders. Restore by copying them back before launching.
Restoring a purchase or moving to a new computer
Section titled “Restoring a purchase or moving to a new computer”- Install the app on the new computer from the download page, sign in with the same account, and activate your license.
- If you have reached your device limit, the activation screen lists your registered devices; release the one you no longer use and activate again.
- To bring your solves along, copy both folders above from the old computer.
Updating
Section titled “Updating”The app does not update itself yet. Download the latest installer from the download page and install it over the existing app; your data folder is kept. The warning from Installing may appear again after each update.
Re-running a solve
Section titled “Re-running a solve”Stopped or failed solves can be restarted from Solutions — see Solutions. A restarted solve begins from the start.
Getting help
Section titled “Getting help”Open Settings → Account → Show diagnostics, review the report, and click Copy. It contains the app and engine versions, OS, license state, and job states only — no sign-in tokens, license keys, solve names, or ranges. Paste it into an email to support@rangeflux.com. If you want to share a range or solve, attach it yourself.
